More people are reaching for something other than a glass of wine at the holiday table. Drinkable cannabis is a big reason why. No smoke, no smell, and you control exactly how much goes into your glass.
If you’ve never tried a THC drink, here’s how the options on our shelf work and how to enjoy them without overdoing it.
Syrups vs. shots: what’s the difference?
THC syrups are flavored concentrates you mix into a drink, like a cocktail syrup. A bottle holds a total amount of THC, and you measure out a small portion each time. At Carneys Point we carry Journeyman syrups in flavors like Blueberry Lemonade, Watermelon Lemonade and Peach Lemonade Hash Rosin. Each bottle contains 100mg of THC in total.
THC shots are small, ready-to-drink bottles. Major makes fast-acting shots, such as Blackberry Lemonade, also with 100mg per bottle. That’s many servings, not one, so read the label and portion it out.
Some syrups blend THC with another cannabinoid, shown as a ratio like 1:2 CBN:THC or 1:1 CBG:THC. Ask a budtender how those blends differ from a THC-only syrup.
How to dose a drink
- Read the label first. Every package lists total THC and the serving size.
- Start small. Begin with a single labeled serving or less, especially if you’re new or it’s been a while.
- Wait before having more. Effects can take longer to arrive than you expect, and they last longer than a drink of alcohol.
- Sip, don’t chug. Mix your portion into a full glass and take your time with it.

Hosting this season? A few house rules
- Label it. If you’re making infused drinks, keep them clearly separate from everything else on the table.
- Don’t mix with alcohol. Combining the two can make effects stronger and less predictable.
- Adults only. Keep infused drinks, and the bottles they came from, well away from kids and pets.
- Plan the ride home. Nobody drives after drinking cannabis. Make it part of the plan, not an afterthought.
